Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in the performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would be a part of America's child prodigy list. However, for an Irish girl with talented parents and her loved ones, this was a characteristic that was innate to her. Maureen joined this family-oriented home on August 17, 20th in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was a contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also owned a piece of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen loved playing rough sports as a kid and excelled in sports. Additionally she was gifted to act. She was the recipient of nearly all the Feis prizes for her own nation's theatre and drama is a testimony to this. At age 14, she had been accepted to the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
